Biographical Information: I was born in 1990 in Austin Texas, moved to San Antonio at three where I still live today.  I am a full-time student at the University of Notre Dame, where I plan to major in English and Pre-med and either become a novelist or doctor.  And yes, for the record, I am also left handed.

The Interesting Information:  My interest in left-handedness began at a very young age, passed on from my mother.  As an elementary school teacher, she claimed to have noticed that many of her lefty students were very intelligent (a pattern she made sure my left-handed brother and I followed) but also at times had problems with discipline (a pattern she made VERY sure my brother and I did not).

As I grew up, a steady stream of scissors, can openers, and notebooks provided reminders of left-handedness, but I really became intrigued when, midway through a high-school history project, I discovered that left-handedness had at one time been considered a criteria for witchcraft.  Other associations with left-handedness also began to click at that time.  The connotations of the word 'sinister' came up, as did a list of famous left-handed people found in a book another lefty friend lent me to help me with the history project (which had by this time been completely derailed into researching left-handedness).  So, when an Anthropology project came up and left-handedness had already been discussed as an apparently inexplicable deviation from natural human conformity, it seemed to be an interesting topic with a wide range of possible areas to research.
